ABSTRACT

This is a book with some articles about the application of Philosophy at High Schools. The book is a product of Course, directed by professor Jorge Humberto Dias in the Centre for Teaching Education, in the north of Portugal. The students, who are teachers at different High Schools, made a reflection about the concept of Happiness and tried to design its possibility at High School.
At the end of the work, teachers said it's very important that Educators promote training in the philosophical competences concerning the development of Happiness at High School.

Jorge Dias presents some critics to the classic philosophy and analyses some myths and ilusions. After doing that, Dias presents us his methods (PROJECT@ and IPSE) and philosophical competences to work in his consultation.
José Barrientos presents us his description about the way he works on the consultation.
Jorge Dias refers Julián Marías (a Happiness Philosopher) and José Barrientos refers Maria Zambrano (a Poietic Philosopher).
At the end of the book, we could read some cases of people that have consulted Jorge Dias and José Barrientos.

ABSTRACT

In this article, Jorge Dias studied the possibility of find an Applied Philosophy in the thought of Julián Marías. In the investigation, Jorge Dias found some elements, that supports an important contribute of Julián Marías, concerning the elaboration of an happiness method.

Jorge Dias states his point of view in a consideration that Philosopher thinks in a concrete situation. That’s why it’s necessary to put in schema the situation of the person and to describe the structure of the human life.

According to Jorge Dias, the Theory of Julián Marías about Happiness permits nowadays the construction of a conceptual system and a basis to the work of the Philosophical Counsellor.

Jorge Dias presents us his method for Philosophical Consultation (PROJECT@), a definition of Happiness and a formula to promote it: H (Happiness) = P (Projects) + C (Concretization).

The Island of San Pietro is beatifull - the right place do discuss the topic of «What is a Philosophical Life?»...

The Organization of this IX International Conference did some new activities and with a great success:
- Reports Around the World - with the representants of each coutry presenting all the activities of the national associations;
- Fóruns about specific topics - with case-studies;
- A great number of Workshops.
- Session about Philosophical Cinema;
- Public Session about Philosophy with Children.

In the Reports around the World were:

- Germany, USA, Spain, Portugal, Holland, Luxembourg, Finland, Danemanrk, Norvege, Israel, etc.

In the Workshop there was a lot of practical work concerning individual consultations, methods, problems, etc.

THEORY OF PHILOSOPHICAL PRACTICE: HAPPINESS

To be a good Philosophical Counselor, you need to do a specialized course in the University or in the Professional Association of your country. It is required 3 years of graduation in general Philosophy.

After the Certification process, you must be member of the Professional Association in your country.

In this kind ok work, the most important is your curriculum - that's the best way to evaluate the quality of a Philosophical Counselor.

After some years of experience, you need to theorize your way of counsling people and/or organizations. In your Theory, you must present the fundament of your practice, your method(s), techniques, competencies, etc.
